Many enjoy a good gamble. The higher the stakes, the more thrilling the game, but the more devastating the loss. Have you ever wondered if you could gamble with the highest stakes possible?
There is a high chance that you already are. The wisest man to ever live, Jesus Christ, said: "For what shall it profit a man if he should gain the whole world and lose his own soul?" If this is true, then the greatest gamble is to live as though there is no God, no judgment, no Hell and no Heaven.
Most think they are good enough for Heaven and that God will just overlook their mistakes; however, this thinking is like playing Russian Roulette with all six chambers loaded. Let me explain why. We know that a good judge is totally obligated to give justice for violations of civil law. The one true and living Creator God is a perfect Law-giver and Judge because He is all-knowing, all-seeing, all-present and all- powerful.
Every single violation of God's perfect Law has an attached penalty, which cannot be paid for by any amount of religion or good works. This would be like trying to bribe the judge. Although God cannot be bribed, He is extremely patient and merciful, and for the time being, He delays carrying out the just sentence for our crimes against Him.
However, this period of time expires when death comes, and then God will have no option but to deal with the person who refused to accept His free gift of eternal life. When that time comes, would you be innocent or guilty of violating God's perfect moral law?
The Bible gives us a wonderful mirror that shows us what is on the inside and it is called the Ten Commandments, which test us as to where we are at in our relationship with a holy God. For example have you ever lied or stolen? Have you had sex outside of marriage? Have you used God's Holy name as a swear word? Have you coveted, desired something that belonged to someone else, such as someone's wife?
If you are guilty of any of these crimes, God sees you as a sinner in need of forgiveness. What if you died now? You would not be at peace with your Creator, and God would have to give you His perfect justice. Because you chose to ignore God's warnings, you will end up in God's prison for all eternity, which the Bible calls Hell, a place of punishment and total absence of all that is good.
But God does not desire this for you. In His amazing love and mercy, He has made a way for you to escape His perfect justice. The Lord Jesus Christ, the sinless Son of God, has paid your debt in full to fulfill His perfect justice when He died on the cross. "But God demonstrates His love toward us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8). Then He arose on the third day defeating sin and death.
To enter into the benefits of God's amazing provision, He requires that you turn from your way to God's way, and trust only in Christ's sacrifice on the cross as full payment for your sins against God. Call upon the name of the Lord now, humbling yourself before Him, asking Him to save your soul, and thanking Him for taking your punishment on the cross. He has promised to give you His gift of eternal life and to forgive your sins in full. Please don't gamble any longer with your most valuable possession — your immortal soul.
Make peace with your Creator now before it is eternally too late.
If you die in your sins without the pardon God offers you through the sacrifice of His Son, you have to pay for your own sins forever. No parole! God will have His day of justice. "Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord we persuade men." (2 Corinthians 5:11) However, if you accept God's amazing love gift, you will no longer be gambling with your eternal destiny. You will receive absolute certainty that Heaven awaits you after death. Why would you keep gambling? But it's your choice... Gods' amazing love and grace leaves the choice with you.
