While Jonas Andrew fooled people into believing he was a genuine Christian, it took a strange dream to turn his life around.
"I was a praise team leader in church, but I was not saved," Jonas admits.
It was clear to him that he was not saved, because as he says, "I was a drunkard, a smoker, a drug user and a womaniser."
Due to the difficulties he faced in life, Jonas questioned the goodness of God and did not listen to the Word of God or those who preached about it.
"Church elders trusted that I was really spiritually born again, a child of God, because they saw me composing songs in church, but my lifestyle outside of church contradicted that."
Then one night a dream came to Jonas that changed everything.
"I dreamt that I was in a desert and a bus stopped nearby that was full of people. They said the bus is full, there is no space. Then I saw a bicycle and tried to borrow it, but the owner said no.
"Four drunken people passed by and called me to follow them, but I refused."
He suddenly awoke from the dream and felt God prompting him to read the Bible, sensing that He was trying to tell him something.
"From the verses I found, I realised that God wants my life to change," he shares.
This dream helped Jonas see that he needed to make a choice to accept Jesus into his life before it is too late and "the bus is full".
In the Bible, he read, "If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved." (Romans chapter 10, verses 9-10).
He then read, "Yet to all who did receive Him (Jesus), to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God" (John 1:12-14).
After reading these words, Jonas was convinced he had to give God control of his life.
"I made the decision to stop doing everything I had been doing against God.
Since that decision, he says, "God has changed my life. My old behaviours and habits are no longer there.
"I have been enjoying the peace and love I found in Jesus Christ. I now have peace in my mind."
Having left friends that were a negative influence, Jonas says, "God has given me new friends who can really encourage me in prayer."
The change in Jonas's life is so significant that he says he can't stop sharing Jesus with everyone he meets.
"By God's help," Jonas concludes, "I share His Word with my friends and most of them came to believe in the Lord Jesus too. God is also helping me to preach about Jesus on buses that I ride on."•
