By joshua C., inmate in Georgia
From the broken window, I watch the clouds roll by,
As the days turn to years right before my eyes.
Searching for a purpose, a place where I belong,
Trying to find the meaning I've been missing all along.
The pieces of my life lie shattered all around,
I'm lost here in the ruins, waiting to be found.
I sit here all alone, bound by these heavy chains,
Drowning in a sea of hopelessness, consumed by guilt and shame.
I lift my voice to heaven, here from my weary knees:
"My God, if You can hear me, come and set me free."
Then I hear a voice like thunder, as the light pours through the glass.
He wraps His arms around me, says, "Son, I thought you'd never ask."•
