What is the meaning of life?

It was interesting to note that "What is the meaning of life" was the third most popular of the "What is..." google search terms for 2015— after "What is Netflix" and "What is Love" but beating "What is the Time" and "What is the Weather Today". It seems there are many people out there using Google to do some deep soul-searching.

What is the meaning of your life? I wonder how you would answer.

Some might bleakly claim everything in our universe was created randomly and thus has no meaning and purpose, while others might sentimentally hold to ideas of living for family or to make the world a better place.

Yet have you ever wondered what the God of the Bible has to say about the meaning of human life?

God made it clear in the Bible's book of Isaiah chapter 43 verse 7 when He said: "Everyone who is called by My name, and whom I have created for My glory, whom I have formed, even whom I have made".

God made man in His image and for His glory. He created mankind to have a relationship with Him.

So what does He require of us?

Micah chapter 6 verse 8 explains: "He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?"

In the New Testament this is reiterated when Paul says, "...whatever you do, do all to the glory of God" (1 Corinthians 10:31).

Meaning comes through bringing God glory and praise through all that we do – whether that be giving 100% effort at work, showing kindness to others or choosing to do the right thing despite temptation to do wrong.

Acting justly, loving others and humbly obeying God's Word is what God calls us to do. We are called to worship Him with the way we live our lives because we are "fearfully and wonderfully made" (see Psalm 139:14).

Rather than turn to Google for answers, turn to God. He loves you and wants you to know Him personally through His Son Jesus Christ.
