Charlotte Nadine Julius had lost her way. She was in prison for murder. She felt empty and hopeless inside. All the bad things she had done seemed overwhelming. Then one day she made a choice that changed everything.

"I grew up in a Christian house with my father, my mother and my sisters. They still support me through every disappointment I caused them."

Charlotte describes that throughout the years she would hear a Voice. "It always reminded me that Jesus is my Father; that God is always with me no matter what. I always believed that He was, I just let the devil overtake me as a teenager."

Charlotte chased after bad friends and drank too much. She also struggled with issues of "pride, lying, jealousy, unforgiveness, a bad attitude and a need for revenge."

"I never asked God's advice," she admits. "It was just me, myself and I."

Then, Charlotte was arrested and sentenced to 22 years in prison for her crimes. "I did not have self-control," she says in regards to the murder she committed.

Once behind bars, she knew something had to change in her life. "I searched for how to become a real child of God and how to become a real Christian," she says.

She started attending the church services held in the prison and listened to the Gospel [good news of Jesus saving us from our sins]. "I started hearing it and feeling it," she smiles. "I started reading the Bible and praying every day."

Charlotte knew she could not go on living the way she was. She needed Jesus Christ. She prayed, "Lord, I come to you as your child. Please forgive me of my sins. Wash me clean. As of today, I am your child and you are my Savior. Forever I thank you Lord for being with me. Amen."

Since that day, things have dramatically shifted for her. "I am happy that I am not the master of my life anymore," she affirms. "I am a child of God now. I am clean and very happy. I thank God for giving me a second chance at life. If I did not end up in prison, I wouldn't know who God is."

Charlotte is eager to tell others about what God has done for her. "When God came into my heart I realized where true life comes from," she explains. "God's love is what everyone needs and it is so real. When you believe in God, you will know what life is. Jesus' forgiveness and love are free to anyone who repents [turns away from their sins]."

One of Charlotte's favorite Bible passages comes from Psalm 90 which begins, "Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations. Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God."

"When you are a Christian, you have eternal life in heaven," Charlotte concludes. "Now I know how to forgive. God showed me the road of goodness with His power and mercy."
